[Like Warhol? I was asked. I looked up the images that Warhol did of the activist Marsha P. Johnson and the answer is no, not really. I think I understand what Warhol was doing with Pop Art, but his images feel like a 2D gloss on the iron spine that is the only framework strong enough to support a revolution. My hope with these images is to honor that spine. This is no statement at all on what Warhol may or may not have felt in his creation of his art, but his work is a glide across the surface of pain, strength, pride and sorrow and it feels out of place here.]
